Creole Seasoning Blend

Warm up winter recipes with a spicy boost!
This is a food service and CACFP recipe for Spice It Up!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 tablespoons paprika
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried leaf oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme

Method

Mix all ingredients, label and store in an air-tight container or bag.

Are you confused over the difference between Creole and Cajun spices? This is the difference between Cajun and Creole. On the surface, the simplest way to discern between the two is think of Creole as city food (and people), and Cajun as country food (and people). Creole historically refers to the descendants of the French (and later, Spanish) colonial settlers of New Orleans.
