You can include apples in the salad bar, as a snack, on a breakfast bar, as an ingredient in a bakery item, side dish, or entree, in a field trip lunch, or as a taste test item. Included on this website are featured curriculum connections for apples, along with recipes for food service departments and for students and their families.

Also, the second Thursday in October is the day of the Illinois Great Apple Crunch! If you are bringing in local apples at other times of the year, why not go all out and celebrate the Crunch in October?
